WINDHAM, NH : Woman thrown from vehicle in crash on I-93 on August, Thursday 17th 2017

A driver was ejected in a serious crash Thursday morning on Interstate 93 South in Windham.

A car flipped over, ejecting the driver, who suffered serious injuries and was flown to a Boston hospital, officials said.

The driver wasn't identified, but officials said she was a 26-year-old woman. She suffered head injuries and multiple fractures, officials said.

"They took care of her in the ambulance," Chief Tom McPherson said. "Made sure they gave her the medication she needed for the flight. Prepped her for the flight. Turned her over to DART, and now they're en route to Boston."

The road was reduced to one lane for a short time while first responders were on the scene.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
