Columbus, OH : Police ID man killed on I-71/75 in Florence on Sunday, 30th October 2016
A Glencoe, Kentucky, man was killed and two others were injured in a Sunday morning crash on southbound Interstate 71/75 in Boone County.
James Lutz and Cynthia Gooch, of Erlanger, were standing on the side of the roadway with, possibly working on their vehicle, when they were struck by a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country van driven by Schawanna Jones, of Covington, according to Florence police.
Officers responded to the wreck at 5:45 a.m. Lutz was pronounced dead at the scene. Gooch and Jones were taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with serious injuries.
The crash caused closures and restriction on I-71/75 southbound between US-42 and Mt. Zion Road.
"Alcohol may have been a contributing factor," a news release from police stated. "There have not been any charges filed at this time but there may be in the future."
The Florence police are investigating the crash.
