LAS VEGAS, NV : Pedestrian hit killed after car tire pops off in northwest valley crash on Saturday, 4th November 2023

A man is dead, and a driver is in custody after a suspected DUI crash in the northwest valley, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.

On Saturday, at about 12:44 p.m., LVMPD received reports of a crash involving a pedestrian near West Lake Mead Boulevard, east of the intersection with North Decatur Boulevard.

According to investigators, a silver 2010 Honda Pilot SUV was traveling east on West Lake Mead Boulevard on the left of two eastbound travel lanes. It had just crossed the intersection with North Decatur Boulevard, where it began to veer to its right.

Police said a man was walking east on the paved sidewalk on the south side of West Lake Mead Boulevard.

The crash occurred when the driver's tire popped, and he lost control, failing to maintain his travel lane, exited the roadway to the south, and struck the raised curbing.
