Olympia, WA : Driver killed when car hits utility pole in South Seattle on Monday, 24th October 2016
A 22-year-old male driver died in a crash in South Seattle just before midnight Monday, officials said.
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as Joseph Lee. His manner of death was an accident, the office said.
According to Seattle police, a car speeding northbound hit a utility pole along Martin Luther King Jr. Way South. The impact sheared the car in half. No other vehicles were involved, police said.
The driver was declared dead at the scene. An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, police said.The Seattle Department of Transportation temporarily closed the northbound section of Martin Luther King Way South between Boeing Access Road and Henderson Street on Tuesday morning as crews worked to replace the damaged utility pole. The area reopened hours later.
