In the first incident, a man who allegedly had been drinking crashed into a car in Burnsville, killing the other driver.
A northbound 1995 Toyota Corolla was stopped at the intersection of Nicollet Avenue and Minnesota 13 at about 2 a.m. Sunday when a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta traveling east on the highway went off the road and struck the Corolla, sending both cars down an embankment, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The driver of the Corolla, Erin C. Randall, 34, of Richfield, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Jetta, Neftali P. Ramirez, 25, of Bloomington, wasn't seriously injured and was booked into the Dakota County Jail on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide, with a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more.
Ramirez has not been charged. He was scheduled to make his first court appearance Tuesday.
