COLUMBIA, SC : Driver killed in single-vehicle crash in Sumter on Wednesday, March 22nd 2017

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says a driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred at about 3:05 a.m. in U.S. 15 just south of Sumter. Troopers say the vehicle went off the right side of the road, hit a ditch and overturned. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle, according to troopers. The driver died at the scene.

The victim's name has not yet been released by the coroner.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
