Livermore, CA : One person died, six injured in a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate Highway 580 in Contra Costa County on Saturday afternoon, March 14, 2015

Authorities say one person was killed and six people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on a Northern California freeway.

The California Highway Patrol says at least 10 cars were involved in Saturday's accident on Interstate 580 at the foot of the Altamont Pass in Livermore.

The Alameda County Fire department said the crash sent six people to the hospital. Their conditions have not been released.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
