Dover Plains, NY : Dover man dies after cycling accident in the area of Tinker Town Road on Monday, April 25, 2016
A Dover man died last Monday after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle in the area of Tinker Town Road, according to state police.
Fifty-year-old Douglas DelVecchio was riding his bike southbound on Route 22 April 18, according to state police spokeswoman Melissa McMorris. A vehicle, driven by 52-year-old Amenia resident Shane D. Revette, was also traveling southbound.
Revette struck DelVecchio with his vehicle, according to McMorris.
State police were dispatched to the scene at 4:13 p.m., and DelVecchio was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center, where he later died as a result of his injuries.
The incident remains under investigation, McMorris said. No criminal charges or traffic tickets have been issued to Revette at this time.
The family has since launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover burial costs and medical bills, according to the page. As of 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, the campaign has raised $2,870 of its $4,000 goal.
