71-year-old woman struck by car dies in Vero Beach Florida

A 71-year-old Vero Beach woman died Sunday evening after being struck by a vehicle while she was walking on Oslo Road, west of 27th Avenue, said Sergeant Mark Wysocky, spokesman for Florida Highway Patrol.Maria Diaz was walking southbound on Oslo Road around 6:17 p.m., when she was hit by a 2010 Dodge Charger, Wysocky said.The driver of the Dodge Charger, Mario Lysaith, 28, was traveling eastbound in the outside turn lane on Oslo Road and did not immediately see Diaz walking in the road way, said Wysocky.
Diaz was taken to Indian River Medical Center, where she passed away due to the serious injuries sustained she sustained in this accident.All lanes of Oslo Road were shutdown earlier today as the crash was being investigated, but westbound lanes and one eastbound lane are now open, says Florida Highway Patrol.The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
