lthough eight people were involved in the Texas family Disney World accident, the five victims that were killed — three young children and two adults — were not wearing their seatbelts when the crash occurred. The family’s vehicle, a large SUV, was said to have shifted and “rolled” over on the roadway. A 16-year-old boy, identified as Andrew Hardman, was driving the Chevrolet Tahoe when the accident occurred this Wednesday night.
Authorities are still looking into the case, but they believe that the teen driver may have fallen asleep while he was still at the wheel of the car. Witnesses claimed that the car struck the median, hard, and when the car hurriedly tried returning back onto the highway lane, Andrew spun too much, causing the vehicle to spin. It was then that the car crashed, rolling over in a horrific scene.
According to the Chicago Tribune News, the driver escaped the Texas family Disney World car crash with only some cuts and scrapes. Two others crammed into the vehicle were also relatively unhurt. Sadly, the fatal accident claimed the lives of five other family members. The three children and two adults were the only people in the vehicle not wearing seatbelts. Said one official, this is a sad reminder of the importance of vehicle safety.
