Oklahoma City, OK : Police: Drunken man crashed car with child inside on May 15th 2014
A man faces child endangerment charges after a suspected drunken driving accident on Thursday.
Police said the accident was at Northwest 10th Street and Interstate 44. According to a police report, Joseph Hobbs was so intoxicated he was unable to stand on his own and he could not remember what happened.
Police said a witness told officers that Hobbs missed a turn and drove through four lanes of oncoming traffic. The witness said Hobbs' car traveled down a hill and crashed at the on ramp of I-44.
According to the report, the witness went to the vehicle and was able to get the driver and a 3-year-old out of the car. The witness told officers Hobbs tried to leave with the child, but witnesses made him stay at the scene until officers arrived.
Police arrested Hobbs on suspicion of child endangerment. Hobbs had a previous DUI conviction in Cleveland County.
The child was placed in the care of a relative.
