Longmont, CO : Two drivers injured in Diagonal Highway collision on Monday, July 4, 2016
Two vehicles collided shortly after 11 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Niwot Road and Diagonal Highway.
Colorado State Patrol Corporal Sean Wycoff said one vehicle was traveling southbound on Diagonal Highway while another vehicle was traveling eastbound on Niwot Road when they collided.
"We don't know yet which party was at fault," Wycoff said, adding that the wreck is under investigation.
Both drivers had moderate injuries. The driver of the damaged black SUV had to be extricated by firefighters. The driver was an elderly woman who appeared to have injuries from an accident previous to the wreck on Monday, Wycoff said.
Emergency crews worked to clear the black SUV with its crumpled front end from Diagonal Highway at noon Monday. A black truck sat to the side of the road in the grass as CSP officers directed motorists and cyclists around the wreck.
