SCOTTSDALE, AZ : Impairment suspected after 5-car crash in Scottsdale leaves 3 people hurt on Tuesday, 25th July 2023

Impairment is suspected in a serious crash that closed a portion of Shea Boulevard east of the Loop 101 freeway early Tuesday afternoon.

According to Scottsdale police, it started as four westbound cars were stopped at a red light at the intersection of Shea and Frank Lloyd Wright boulevards around 12:45 p.m. That’s when another driver slammed into one of the stopped cars, causing it to hit the three other cars. Officials say two of three people transported from the scene had broken bones, including a 67-year-old man in critical condition.

Details on what led up to the crash are still under investigation, but police believe the driver who caused the crash was impaired and speeding.
