Saratoga, CA : 51-year-old Los Gatos man killed in rollover crash on Highway 9 near Saratoga and Monte Sereno early Wednesday, March 16, 2016
A 51-year-old Los Gatos man was killed in a solo rollover crash on Highway 9 near Saratoga and Monte Sereno early Wednesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities were called about 12:30 a.m. to southbound Highway 9 -- which is also Saratoga Los Gatos Road in the area -- north of Austin Way for a crash involving a 2010 Infiniti G37 four-door sedan, the CHP said.
An initial CHP report revealed that for a reason still being investigated, the car drifted to the left and into the center divide, hit a tree and rolled over several times before landing on its roof. The driver, identified by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office as Kenneth James Peltier, died at the scene.
The CHP added that the Infiniti's airbags deployed but that the driver was not wearing a seat belt. Investigators do not believe the driver was under the influence of alcohol when the crash occurred.
