PLYMOUTH, IL : Man killed in single-vehicle crash at county routes 50 East and 50 North near Illinois Route 61 east on Saturday, 21st December, 2019

A Taylorville man was killed Saturday night in a single-vehicle accident in far-southwestern McDonough County, authorities stated.

Rodney D. Murphy, 66, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, at county routes 50 East and 50 North near Illinois Route 61 east of Plymouth.

According to the Illinois State Police, Murphy was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Impala west on Route 50 North when the vehicle ran off the road before it reached a curve.

The vehicle struck an embankment, then traveled across Route 50 East, overturned onto the driver’s side and came to rest on the west side of that highway.

Murphy was not wearing a seat belt, according to the State Police.
