A Sampson County man died in a single-vehicle crash in Bladen County Wednesday morning.
According to the State Highway Patrol, Roman Blake Barnes, 29, of Garland was killed after he crashed his 1999 Buick Regal on Old Fayetteville Road near NC 242 around 10:25 p.m.
Barnes was traveling at a high rate of speed when he crossed the center line, ran off the road to the left, and struck a ditch, the State Highway Patrol said.
Barnes, who wasn't wearing a seatbelt at the time, was ejected after his vehicle overturned.
The trooper who responded to the crash said Barnes had passed away by the time he arrived at the scene.
Barnes was the only occupant of the car.
