Orange County, FL : Two people killed in rear-end crash on SR-50 near Christmas on Tuesday afternoon, March 1, 2016

Two people were killed Tuesday afternoon in a rear-end collision on State Road 50 near Christmas, troopers say.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, a 1997 Chrysler van with its emergency hazard lights flashing was headed east in the right land of the roadway at about 4:35 p.m.

A 2007 Toyota Tundra traveling in the same direction "failed to slow in time" and struck the back of the Chrysler van, FHP said.
Both occupants of the van — a 54-year-old male driver from Frostproof and a 43-year-old woman from Orlando — were pronounced dead at the scene. They have not been identified pending notification of kin. They were not wearing seat belts, troopers said.

The driver of the Tundra, Brandon Hinson, 32, of Cocoa, was taken to Parrish Medical Center with minor injuries.

It's unclear whether the van was stationary or moving at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation, FHP said.
