Sand Lake, FL : 68-year-old pedestrian killed in crash on Sand Lake Road on Tuesday, 26th March 2019

68-year-old man was killed in a crash while crossing Sand Lake Road and Currency Drive Tuesday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 10 p.m. near the Florida's Turnpike entrance, said FHP spokeswoman Lt. Kim Montes.

Jason Michael Serrano, 38, of Orlando, was driving his 2012 Dodge pickup truck west on Sand Lake in the left lane when the victim attempted to walk outside of the marked crosswalk from the north side of the intersection, Montes said.

The victim failed to yield as he crossed directly into the path of Serrano, who collided with the victim, Montes said.

The victim was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead, Montes said.

The crash remains under investigation.
