BRIDGEWATER, VT : ID man killed in crash on icy road in Vermont on Tuesday, November 29th 2016

Police have identified a Vermont man who died in a crash on U.S. Route 4 in Bridgewater.

Police say a car had lost control after entering a curve on Tuesday. The car crossed the center line and hit a tractor-trailer, which crossed the center line and hit a pickup truck head-on.

The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 62-year-old Robert Ammel Jr., of Hartford, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say there was freezing rain at the time of the crash, and the road was partially covered by ice.

The crash was one of dozens that occurred across Vermont on Tuesday.
