Sioux Falls, SD : Driver flees after crashing car at police station on Sunday, 16th October 2016
Sioux Falls, South Dakota
People who don't park between the lines can be a bother. Then, there's this.
The Sioux Falls Police Department tweeted around 3:30 p.m. Sunday that a driver had fled after parking "illegally" at the police station.
A witness saw the 2004 white Chevy Impala driving eastbound before going off the road, through a fence and down several layers of retaining wall before landing on some snowplows, police spokesman Sam Clemens said.
"That probably wasn't a fun ride," Clemens said.
The driver then ran off, but the witness could not get a description of him or her, Clemens said. The snowplows were damaged by the crash.
Police contacted the car's owner, who may know who took the car, but no arrests have been made yet, Clemens said.
A bottle of alcohol and a beer can were also found in the car, which could lend some clues to how the crash happened, Clemens said.
