SARASOTA, FL : 21-year-old woman critically injured in Sarasota motorcycle crash on Desoto Road, just west of Tri Par Ave on Sunday, 27th January 2019

A 21-year-old woman was critically injured in a motorcycle accident in Sarasota on Sunday morning, authorities said.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a crash on Desoto Road, just west of Tri Par Ave. at about 6 a.m.

Troopers said a Kawasaki motorcycle left the roadway, overturned and ended up in a ditch.

"The driver became separated from [the vehicle] and came to a final rest in said ditch," the crash report states.

The motorcyclist was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
