Elmore County, AL : Two people died and several others injured after a two-vehicle crash in Wetumpka on Wednesday, March 30, 2016

Two people have died and several others are injured following a two-vehicle crash in Wetumpka, according to officials with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Alabama State Trooper Sgt. Steve Jarrett says the driver of a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis, 20-year-old Broderick Lewis, and a passenger, 22-year-old Brea Lewis, were fatally injured when their vehicle collided with a 1998 Dodge Ram pickup.

Both Broderick and Brea were pronounced dead at the scene.

The occupants of the Dodge suffered minor injuries and were transported to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery.

The crash occurred at 7:50 a.m. at the intersection of Redland Road and Firetower Road, five miles east of Wetumpka.

An investigation into the cause of the crash remains underway.
