OCEANSIDE, CA : 1 dead, 4 hurt in suspected DUI crash in North County on Wednesday, 9th August 2023

One person is dead and four others were taken to a hospital after a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 5 Wednesday evening in the Oceanside area, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 8:58 p.m. on I-5 north, just north of State Route 78, according to California Highway Patrol.

Authorities say a red sedan was parked on the side for unknown reasons, when a high-speed black Chevrolet Corvette was passing on the right shoulder and slammed into the red sedan. The crash caused the red sedan to push into the number four lane (slow lane), where an 18-wheeler collided with that sedan, per CHP.
