Marietta, GA : Charges expected following fatal Austell crash involving a Cobb County Transit bus on Saturday, November 19th 2016
Cobb police say charges are expected to be filed after a Chevrolet truck struck a Cobb County Transit bus causing one fatality in Austell Saturday morning.
Cobb police spokesperson Sgt. Dana Pierce said preliminary information indicates a maroon Chevrolet S-10 truck disregarded a traffic signal as it was traveling east on the East-West Connector at the same time a Cobb County Transit bus was traveling north on Mesa Valley Way. The truck hit the transit bus’s passenger side.
Hugo Ramos, 47, of Marietta, was driving the Chevrolet truck and was transported to Kennestone Hospital after suffering visible injuries. He is expected to survive, Pierce said.
His aunt, Josefina Ramos, 53, of Austell, was pronounced dead at Kennestone Hospital.
The driver of the Cobb transit bus — who has been identified as Carlos Moring, 49, of Atlanta — was transported to South Cobb Hospital along with a female passenger, Pierce said. Both are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators expect to file charges in this case, and anyone with information about it is asked to call 770-499-3987.
Cobb police did not respond to requests for further comments or updates by press time.
