MONMOUTH, IL : 2 crashes on Route 164 leave one injured on Thursday, 3rd May 2018
Warren County Sheriff’s Office responded to two crashes on Illinois 164 Thursday morning.
Jacqueline Horn, Muncie, Indiana, was driving a semitrailer at about 5 a.m. Thursday when she failed to reduce her speed while attempting a right turn onto U.S. Highway 34 from Illinois 164, a sheriff’s department news release said.
She was not injured in the rollover. Illinois State Police were assisted on that crash by Warren County, Monmouth police and Alexis Ambulance and Alexis Fire.
About 10 a.m. Thursday deputies responded to a crash on Illinois 164 near 110th Street for a car-semitrailer head-on collision.
A WCSD news release said Brian Deppe, Galesburg, was traveling westbound in a car when he reportedly crossed the center line on Route 164 and struck an eastbound semi driven by Henry Kowalczyk of Lockport. Deppe was transported from the crash to OSF HealthCare St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg for treatment and his condition was unknown as of 5 p.m.
Kowalczyk was not inured. The wreck caused traffic to be shut down for about 90 minutes just east of Gooch’s Boarding Kennels. Warren County was assisted on scene by Illinois State Police, Alexis Fire and Ambulance along with Galesburg Hospitals’ Ambulance Service.
The crash remains under investigation, a news release said.
