Marshalltown, IA : Marshalltown boy dies from injuries in car crash on Thursday, March 9th 2017

A Marshalltown boy has succumbed to his injuries following a weekend car accident in Jasper County.

Derek Cisneros, 12, died earlier this week at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines after he and his parents were involved in a two-vehicle accident along Highway 117 in Jasper County.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a vehicle operated by Douglas Anderson, 65, of Eldridge, was northbound on the highway, crossed lanes and failed to yield to a southbound vehicle driven by Derek’s father, Victor M. Cisneros-Bravo, 50.

The Iowa State Patrol’s website listed Derek Cisneros as a fatality Wednesday afternoon.

Derek’s mother, Blanca E. Cisneros-Bravo, 48, was also in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The auto accident remains under investigation by the state patrol.
