2 dead in Forsyth traffic accidentsin Panacea Florida
Two people were killed in a 12-hour period starting Thursday night in traffic accidents in Forsyth County.A 19-year-old Forsyth County man died Thursday night after he lost control of his motorcycle and slammed into a tree.
Authorities said Cody Frank Luther Rogers of Bottoms Road, Cumming, was pronounced dead at the scene on Settingdown Road near the intersection of Bottoms Road in north Forsyth County. The crash happened just after 8:00.
Authorities believe Rogers was riding his 2011 Kawasaki 650 motorcycle on Settingdown Road when he entered a curve too fast and lost control of the motorcycle. Rogers was thrown from the motorcycle after hitting the tree.
Alcohol was not a factor in the collision, according to investigators. No other persons or vehicles were involved.
In the second crash, Michael Stanley Carter, 53, of Norcross was killed when he ran a traffic light at the intersection of Ga. Hwy. 9 and Pendley Road, striking another vehicle as it attempted a left-hand turn onto Hwy. 9 south.
The driver of the other vehicle was identified as Vickie Cronan, 48, of Holly Court, Cumming. She was transported to North Fulton Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.
Both Carter and Cronan were in their vehicles alone, according to traffic investigators. Authorities said Carter was not wearing a seat belt.
