Orange, CT : One woman dead, 2 injured after SUV veers off roadway, strikes utility pole on Grassy Hill Road in Orange on Saturday, Nov 21, 2015

Police say one woman is dead after the SUV she was a passenger in left the road and struck a utility pole.

The single-vehicle crash happened shortly after 8 a.m. Saturday on Grassy Hill Road in Orange.

Police said three occupants were in a 2008 GMC Envoy when it veered off the roadway and hit a pole. Seventy-four-year-old Diane Barbieri was pronounced dead at the scene. The Waterbury woman was a passenger in the vehicle.

The driver and another passenger were taken to local hospitals with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Orange Police are investigating.
