Munster, IN : Gary man killed in car crash on Sunday, December, 24th 2017

A man with blunt force trauma injuries died early Sunday morning in Gary.

The Lake County coroner's office was dispatched 2:24 a.m. Sunday to the Interstate 80/94 overpass at Burr Street in Gary, according to a news release from the coroner's office.

Lonnie Gerald, 29, of Gary, was determined at the scene to have sustained blunt-force trauma, the release states. He was pronounced dead at 3:20 a.m.

The manner of death remains pending, the release states.

Gary police and the coroner's office staff were assisted at the scene by Gary Fire/EMS, Gary CSI Unit and the Lake County Sheriff's Department.
