Police in metro Savannah are investigating the death of a pedestrian.

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police say 28-year-old Mia Evans of Atlanta was declared dead after being struck by a vehicle late Friday night -- around midnight -- on Abercorn Street.

Police say Evans was trying to cross a dimly-lit portion of Abercorn near the Best Buy parking lot while dressed in dark clothing. They say she was struck by a 1996 Toyota Camry being driven by a 21-year-old Savannah woman.
