Belmont,CA : Coroner identifies pedestrian killed in Belmont crash on February, Thursday 8th 2018
A pedestrian who died after being hit by a car in Belmont last week has been identified by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office as Earnest Goldau, 89, of Woodside.
The fatal collision occurred just before 6:30 p.m. Thursday on the 100 block of Old County Road, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office. Goldau was found lying in the roadway and rushed to Stanford Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla that hit Goldau stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
The sheriff’s office said neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to have played a role in the collision.
Goldau moved to the United States from Nordenham, Germany, in 1952, according to his Facebook profile.
