Quincy, IL : Two injured after a four-car crash at Fifth and Maine Streets on Saturday, May 14, 2016

A four-car crash at Fifth and Maine Streets late Saturday sent two to Blessing Hospital and led to citations for a Quincy man.

Jason Courson, 37, was cited for driving under the influence and failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident after he was treated for minor injuries and released from Blessing. Courson posted cash bond.

The Quincy Police Department reported Courson was heading east on Maine in a 2009 Ford Edge around 10:15 p.m. when it crashed into the rear of 2012 Volkswagon stopped at the intersection of Fifth and Maine. The Volkswagon was driven by Michael Little, 36, of Maywood.

The force of the initial collision created a domino effect, pushing the Volkswagon into the rear of 2002 Lexus driven by Mary Murphy, 62, of Kirkwood, Mo. The Lexus then crashed into the rear of a 2005 Cadillac driven by Larry Kabrick, 73, of Fowler.

A passenger in the Volkswagon was taken to Blessing by ambulance, where she was treated and released. Police said all involved in the crash were wearing seat belts.

The Ford, the Volkswagon and the Lexus were towed from the intersection.

The Adams County Sheriff's Department, Adams County Ambulance and the Quincy Fire Department assisted the Quincy Police Department at the scene.
