Tulsa, OK : Two people injured after crash in midtown on Tuesday, January 3, 2017

Two people are in the hospital after a crash in midtown.

Police responded to the 1600 block of South Harvard Avenue around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday and saw a GMC truck driving about 80 mph southbound on Harvard. Officers tried to catch the vehicle, but when they got to it, the truck had crashed into a Jeep Cherokee near East 27th Street and South Harvard Avenue.

Both drivers were pinned inside their vehicles, according to police. The engine compartment of the truck caught fire, and police were able to free the driver before putting out the fire.

The fire reignited by the time the Tulsa Fire Department arrived, according to police.

The driver of the GMC was taken to the hospital in stable condition. The driver of the Jeep was transported in critical condition.

Officers are investigating whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.
