Brentwood, CA : Discovery Bay woman dies in solo crash on Thursday, 5th July 2018

The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal solo vehicle crash, authorities said Thursday.

At 6:19 p.m., officers responded to reports of the crash that had downed a light pole in northbound lanes of Deer Valley Road just south of Briones Valley Road, CHP Officer Brandon Correia said.

Officers and paramedics responding to the scene found a power pole blocking nearby roadway lanes and a 2007 Toyota Camry that had gone into a nearby ditch, Correia said.

The vehicle’s driver, identified only as a 54-year-old Discovery Bay woman, was ejected from the Toyota and pronounced dead at the scene.

Antioch police also responded, and crews with Pacific Gas & Electric and the county’s public works department were called to handle expected roadway closures and repairs.
