Santa Clara, CA : San Jose man killed in Highway 237 overpass crash on Monday, Oct 5, 2015
A driver who was killed after his pickup truck fell off a Highway 237 overpass Monday has been identified as a San Jose man, according to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office.
Isaias Alva Alva, 32, was westbound in a gray Toyota Tundra just after noon when a sideswipe collision occurred with a white pickup on the overpass above Lafayette and Gold streets, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Tundra veered to the right shoulder, hit and flipped over a barrier wall and fell about 40 feet to the ground below, where it landed on its driver side next to a set of train tracks, the CHP said.
Alva Alva was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in his truck was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
The driver of the white pickup stopped and cooperated with authorities, the CHP said. No arrests or citations have been made, and neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have been factors.
