Waldo, FL : Waldo man dies in motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 301 on Wednesday, 12th February, 2020

A Waldo man died of his injuries following a crash early Wednesday morning in which his motorcycle entered a ditch, hit a culvert and became airborne before landing in another ditch outside a bar.

Daniel Joe Russell, 34, was driving south on U.S. Highway 301 in Waldo at about 3:30 a.m. when his vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons and traveled into a ditch, according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release.

The motorcycle then hit the culvert, causing it to become airborne, the release said, before it came to a final rest in a ditch outside Mugshots Bar. Russell died at the scene.

He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, the release said.
