Glenpool, OK : 14 People Injured in a two-vehicle wreck in Okmulgee County on Sunday night, February 21, 2016

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 14 people were injured in a two-vehicle Okmulgee County wreck on Sunday night.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a van and a truck collided in the northbound lanes on U.S. Highway 75. The van for the faith-based recovery group Teen Challenge of Oklahoma was having mechanical issues when the truck rear-ended it, a trooper said.

Nine people were transported to hospitals by ambulance, two by medical helicopter and three by private vehicle, OHP said. It happened around 10 p.m. south of Hectorville Road.

News On 6 spoke to van driver Chet Biggs Monday morning. He said the group was coming back from a church event in Henryetta. They had slowed to about 45 mph because the van was having problems.

That's when the the truck hit them from behind, he said. Biggs said there were 11 people in the van including him. Two of the people were still in the hospital but are expected to be OK.

He didn't know the condition of the three people in the truck.

The wreck also ignited a small grass fire that caused some issues, but it was brought under control.

The official collision report, including the names and conditions of those involved, still is pending.
