A 49-year-old Dallas man was killed by a semi-tractor in a crash on Interstate 5 Tuesday night in Salem.
Oregon State Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a crash at I-5 milepost 253 at 10:30 p.m.
Ted Satter was pronounced dead at the scene. OSP said Satter was the driver of a Chevy Aveo, which was found parked on the highway's right shoulder.
For unknown reasons, Satter walked on to the interstate and was hit by a 2015 Freightliner traveling south. The semi-tractor had been towing two tanker trailers.
The driver of the Freightliner, identified as 38-year-old Andrew Ruzanski of Albany, was not injured in the crash.
While OSP was on the scene with Salem Fire, the Oregon Department of Transportation, Dallas Police Department and the Marion County Medical Examiner, I-5 southbound was reduced to one open lane for four hours.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
