Sherwood,MI : Two seriously injured in crash on October, Thursday 5th 2017
A husband and wife are in serious condition after she fell asleep behind the wheel just before 4 a.m. Thursday.
Michigan State Police said the wife was driving when she hit first one driveway, then a second driveway culvert and went airborne. The SUV rolled over and hit a tree.
The incident happened near Ralston Road in Sherwood Township.
Sherwood and Athens fire departments were called to set up a landing zone for AirCare Helicopter. They removed the trapped couple from inside the vehicle.
The unconscious husband was flown and the wife transported by LifeCare Ambulance to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Mendon Road was closed for nearly two hours due to the crash.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Office and Union City Police Department were called for traffic control.
The tree which has a white cross attached to it is also the site of a fatal accident that took place several years ago.
