NILES TOWNSHIP, MICH: Man dies in Niles Twp crash involving dump truck on Tuesday, 2nd July 2024 07/2/2024

The Granger man who died from his injuries in a crash on Tuesday night just north of the state line has been identified as 69-year-old Christopher Salvador.

Salvador is a well-known name in the Michiana community in television production. He was a longtime producer for Golden Dome Media, a production company owned by WNDU and Notre Dame.

According to our colleague Gary Sieber, Salvador started his own company, New Group Media, when the university sold the TV station and Golden Dome Media was shut down.

The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of S. 11th Street in Niles Township. It involved a car and a commercial dump truck.

When first responders arrived on scene, they found Salvador trapped inside the car and not breathing. Despite their best efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Investigators believe the car was exiting a private driveway onto S. 11th Street when it failed to yield to the oncoming dump truck, resulting in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Team.
