A three-vehicle crash including a bicyclist at claimed the life of a Robertsdale man and injured three others early Thursday morning, according to authorities.
Christopher Allen Jerkins, 38, was killed when the bicycle he was riding was struck by a 2001 Honda Accord, according to Alabama State Trooper spokesman Jame Maloy.
It happened at 1:10 a.m. on U.S. 31 two and a half miles outside of Spanish Fort city limits, near the nine mile marker, Maloy said in an email to media.
Maloy said the Honda swerved in an attempt to avoid the cyclist, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a 1994 Chevrolet pickup.
Jerkins was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and a passenger of the Honda, as well as the driver of the Chevrolet, were taken to Thomas Hospital in Fairhope for medical treatment.
Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
