Two 16-year-old boys were killed Friday night when their car went off a twisting road and hit a tree in Edmonds. A boy and two girls were injured in the 11:30 p.m. crash in the 8000 block of Olympic View Drive.
All of the car’s occupants were Snohomish County residents between the ages of 13 and 16, said Edmonds police Sgt. Shane Hawley. Hawley said he would not provide more details about their identities until he was sure
their families had been notified by authorities.
The teens’ car, a BMW sedan, went off Olympic View Drive, which is nicknamed “old snake road,” Hawley said, for its curves. The car went over an embankment and struck a tree in a “very severe crash,” Hawley said.
The driver, 16, and a back-seat passenger, also 16, died at the scene. It’s not clear if they were wearing seat belts, Hawley said. A girl in the front seat, apparently wearing her seat belt, was able to climb out of the car and flag
down a passing driver. Her injuries were minor, Hawley said.
