Louisville, KY : Driver killed after crashing into ambulance at south Preston Street and Broadway on Monday, 27th April, 2020

One person was killed early Monday morning after crashing an SUV into an ambulance in downtown Louisville, police say.

The incident occurred at south Preston Street and Broadway about 2:30 a.m., according to a statement from department spokesman Dwight Mitchell. A Ford SUV was heading southbound on Preston and ran into an ambulance heading westbound on Broadway at the intersection. Both vehicles overturned, Mitchell said.

The driver of the SUV, who had not yet been identified Monday morning, was killed at the scene, Mitchell said. Three Louisville EMS employees who were in the ambulance were taken to nearby University Hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, he said. The ambulance was not on a run at the time of the crash.
