A 19-year-old Pennsylvania man was thrown from his car and killed when it rolled in a cornfield after authorities say he drove away from a traffic stop and was being chased by police.
Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman Jr. says Ernest Edward McCleary, of Blairsville, was pronounced dead about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday at the scene of the crash in Burrell Township.
The coroner says a Blairsville police officer tried to pull over McCleary on U.S. Route 22 about 12:30 a.m. but reported that McCleary sped away. The coroner says the officer gave chase into the neighboring township and watched as McCleary's car fishtailed out of control and crashed.
