Ponca, NE : 2 hurt in vehicle collision near Ponca on Monday, December 29, 2014

Two people were injured Monday when an SUV and a truck collided near Ponca.

According to the Dixon County Sheriff's Office, at about 9:38 a.m., the driver of an eastbound SUV lost control in the icy conditions and slid into the path of a westbound straight truck one mile west of Ponca on Nebraska Highway 12.

The female driver of the SUV was transported by helicopter to Mercy Medical Center -- Sioux City. A male passenger in the SUV was transported to Mercy Medical Center by Ponca Rescue. Dixon County authorities have yet to release their names.

The driver of the truck was not injured, the sheriff's office said.

The Nebraska State Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
