Henderson, KY : Man injured in a one-vehicle accident at U.S. 41-Alternate and Posey Chapel Road early Monday morning, September 12, 2016

A Henderson resident was injured early Monday morning in a one-vehicle accident at U.S. 41-Alternate and Posey Chapel Road.

The Henderson County Sheriff's Office said 34-year-old Terri Smith was transported to Methodist Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. She was not listed as a patient Monday afternoon at the facility.

The crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. when Smith was traveling north on U.S. 41-Alternate in a 1991 Ford pickup truck, officials said.

The vehicle left the road, hit an embankment and flipped onto its top, the sheriff's office said.

Smith was trapped in the truck and had to be extricated with emergency responders using the jaws of life to free her from the vehicle, authorities said.

The investigation into the cause of the accident is continuing.
