BENNINGTON, VT : Driver in Arlington crash charged with DUI on Sunday, 29th July 2018

A Sandgate man is being charged with driving under the influence after crashing his truck in Arlington on Sunday, according to Vermont State Police.

Shaftsbury troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Sandgate Road at 3:18 p.m, and investigation revealed that Travis McDermott, 37, lost control of his Dodge Ram and went off the road, state police said in a release. The truck traveled approximately 150 feet off the road and down a steep incline, and troopers discovered McDermott was going at "unreasonable and imprudent speeds for conditions and hazards," said the release.

McDermott was taken to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center for evaluation, and troopers "observed clues indicating impaired operation" at the hospital, the release stated. He sustained minor injuries from the crash.

According to police, McDermott has been cited to appear at the Bennington County Superior Court on Aug. 13 to answer to the charge of DUI.
