FAIRFIELD, CA : Police investigate hit-and-run crash that left motorcyclist injured on Wednesday, 7th September 2016
Oliver Road between the westbound Interstate 80 off-ramp and Rockville Road was closed for more than 90 minutes Wednesday after a hit-and-run crash that left a motorcyclist seriously injured.
The crash happened at approximately 11:15 a.m. and prompted closure of the roadway until 12:50 p.m.
Fairfield police said in an update on the crash that the motorcyclist was headed south on Oliver Road when a black Toyota pulled out of a motel driveway into the path of the motorcyclist, who hit the Toyota and was thrown from the bike. Police said the driver of the Toyota did not stop and fled north on Oliver Road.
Several witnesses remained at the scene to help the motorcyclist until emergency crews could arrive, police said.
Sgt. Matt Bloesch said the injured motorcyclist – a Fairfield man who is in his 30s – was taken to the trauma center at NorthBay Medical Center with what police described as major injuries.
Police were searching for the black Toyota, which is described as either a Camry or Corolla, and were following up on various leads throughout the afternoon, Bloesch said.
“Thankfully the witnesses hung around and we were able to get some good information,” Bloesch said.
