Vicksburg, MS : Man arrested after a crash that left a woman and her son dead when three vehicles collided on U.S. Highway 80 early Saturday morning, January 23, 2016

The Mississippi Highway Patrol says a man has been arrested after he left the scene of a crash that left a woman and her son dead when three vehicles collided on U.S. Highway 80 early Saturday morning.

The Vicksburg Post reports that Cedrick Blackmore, 30, was being held without bond pending an initial appearance in court.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Cpl. Eric Henry said Blackmore was accused of leaving the scene of the accident.

State police reports charge that Blackmore rear-ended a car and causing it to cross into the opposite lane and hit another car head-on, killing two people. The accident occurred about 2:45 a.m. State police said more charges could be filed against Blackmore.

Warren County Corner Doug Huskey says Cadelia Harris, 40, of Edwards, Mississippi, and her son, Jarrett Nelson, 9, were declared dead at the scene of the accident.

Two other people were injured. Henry said Trameka Flowers, 22, and an unidentified passenger in her car were taken to Merit Health River Region Medical Center with serious injuries.

According to state police reports, Flowers was hit in the rear by Blackmore. State police say the collision caused Flowers to lose control of her car, cross the center line and collide head-on with the car driven by Harris.

Authorities say Blackmore left the scene, but was later found at his home and taken into custody.
