Gaffney, SC : One motorcyclist killed by pick-up truck crash on Monday October 6th 2014.

The S.C. Highway Patrol says a motorcyclist from North Carolina was killed in a wreck on Interstate 85 near the state line. Multiple media outlets report 45-year-old Gary Donald Marshall of Grover, North Carolina, died when his motorcycle slammed into the rear of a flatbed trailer being pulled by a pick-up truck. The patrol said the accident occurred around 11 p.m. Monday on northbound I-85 near mile marker 102. Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler said Marshall was alone on the motorcycle and was thrown about 50 feet from the vehicle when it crashed. Fowler said Marshall died at the scene. Fowler said Marshall had gotten off work about 10:30 p.m. in Spartanburg and was headed home at the time of the crash. He said an autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.
